Feather Provenance

Each piece begins with a record of its feathers.

Provenance is central to this work. A feather without a record is just a fragment; a feather with one becomes part of an object's history.

What we record

Where possible, each feather is documented by species, the manner in which it was obtained, and the object in which it was ultimately used.

A note on sourcing

Feathers used in the collection come from birds kept and worked by falconers and are obtained through natural moult rather than harm to the bird. The Falconer's Veil creates contemporary avian wall objects inspired by the dreamcatcher form; no claim of Indigenous authenticity is made.
